Part 5 Dart Manipulation

This part shows the common uses of this fullness to create style by slash method.There are three ways to create the style：Slash Dart only；Added Fullness only；Slash Added Fullness.

Process Demonstration

1.Slash Darts only（Fig.5-11）

Ⅰ.Lower neckline 1.3cm（1/2″）；then draw yoke line 5.1cm（2″）below and parallel to shoulder and neckline.Reduce 1.3cm（1/2″）at waist line，as shown by dotted lines.Divide curved part of yoke into 3 equal parts and draw 2lines down as illustrated.Mark sections A，B，C and D.
Ⅱ.Cut out front；then slash and close up darts to spread for fullness between B，C and D.
Ⅲ.Allow seams.Make corresponding notches.

2.Added Fullness Only（Fig.5-12）

The shirring details of the following sketches are not dependent upon the use of the basic darts.Slash lines are introduced wherever fullness is desired.However，these lines must always be placed between two seams.The amount of spread between slashes depends upon fabric and fullness desired.
