Maintaining flexibility

While security is a necessary evil in modern computing, you should remember that Least Privilege Security on the desktop may inhibit the IT department's ability to respond to changing business needs in a timely manner if not planned carefully or if the IT staff is not adequately trained. When Least Privilege Security is deemed to inhibit flexibility or the speed at which IT can respond, the project may fail.

Fortifying IT systems to provide business continuity has to be balanced with the ability to respond to changing business needs, and must not stifle the ability to innovate. Organizations that move slowly and are not able to respond in a timely manner often lose out to the competition, as IT systems play a key role in the ability to respond.
